Our metal raised planters has adopted AkzoNobel sustainable special paint(also obtained USDA certification) developed for animal husbandry and planting, which will not penetrate into soil. Your garden and soil are safe to go. However, most of traditional wooden garden beds will add chemical preservatives in order to avoid crumble easily, these may penetrate into the soil and do some damage to the soil.
